Layton pisses away whatever military vote the NDP had.

For all those dippers who claim that Layton's recent political grandstanding is in no way affecting the moral and resolve of the Canadian troops in Afghanistan:

One unidentified soldier cursed NDP leader Jack Layton for his calls for the Canadian army to return to a peacekeeping role. That soldier blamed Layton for a weakening in the resolve of Canadians to continue with a more warlike Afghan mission.

Laurie Hawn, Conservative MP for Edmonton Centre and a former Canadian Forces fighter pilot, was on hand to greet the wounded soldiers. As he left the tarmac, Hawn said any perceived lack of resolve on the part of Canadians could only endanger Canada's 2,200 soldiers in Afghanistan.

Note how the NDP no longer has a defence critic, they now have a critic for defence and peace advocacy. Perhaps we should all hold hands and sing Kumbaya in the hopes that the Taliban will finally love us all.

Example #311 of why the NDP has always been and will always be a fringe party.

If the NDP creating the illusion of sagging support in Canada for our troops was to increase the danger to even one of our soilders by a tiny fraction then I consider that most unethical on their part and Jack Layton's.

I say that Sharpiro should be investigating this unethical behaviour which could endanger lives. Haul Layton's peace loving ass before a committee and let him explain why scoring political points is more important than the safety of our troops and democracy for all.

If the troops are such whimps to lose their morale over such things as, i don't know, DEMOCRATIC DEBATE, maybe we should just take them out of the harm's way by bringing them back to Canada.

A Democratic Debate? Give me a break! Layton himself stated that he doesn't approve of the current mission of hunting down Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters (Actually he labblled it as "Canadians don't want that"), so this call for a "Democratic debate" over a mission that has been in place is nothing more than an attempt for Jack Layton and the NDP tostart firing up their pacifist rhetoric.

As for the troops: well, think about it. If your fighting in a war while your government is questioning your reason to be there at the same time, don't you think this would play around with your determination to complete your mission?
